Federal Investigation Uncovers Willful and Serious Safety Violations at Aerojet Rocketdyne Facility
The U.S. Department of Labor has imposed $262,451 in penalties on Aerojet Rocketdyne Coleman Aerospace Inc. following a December 2024 fire at its Orlando facility that hospitalized two employees and injured others.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) found the target-missile manufacturer exposed workers to fire, burn, and inhalation hazards.
Two employees suffered severe burns, and another was injured from burns and smoke inhalation while working on a missile component.
OSHA cited the company for improperly storing and handling explosives and failing to classify a highly reactive chemical’s hazards, resulting in one willful and six serious violations.
Aerojet Rocketdyne has 15 business days to comply, request a conference with OSHA, or contest the findings before the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.
