MK’s Attacks, Enabled by USSR, Devastate Civilians, Including Innocent Children
The Soviet Union’s sinister role in arming and training the ANC’s Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK) led to 1,555 bombings during apartheid, leaving a trail of innocent Afrikaner blood.
MK’s attacks, wielding Soviet-supplied limpet mines and weapons, primarily butchered civilians, 52 of 71 deaths from 1976–1984 were non-combatants, including children, per the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
Strikes like the 1983 Church Street bombing and 1985 Amanzimtoti blast obliterated families, targeting public spaces under the guise of fighting apartheid, sacrificing their own people in these actions.
Despite MK’s claims of avoiding civilians, restaurants and streets became killing fields due to Soviet-enabled violence.
The USSR’s ruthless backing fueled this carnage, empowering MK’s deadly campaign. From 1961–1990, these attacks shattered Afrikaner lives, leaving a devastating legacy of loss and trauma that still haunts South Africa.
