Polk County Sheriff’s Office cracks down on swatting epidemic, arrests two teens from Northeast
Two teenagers, Isaiah Reyes, 14, from Syracuse, New York, and Carder Martin, 15, from East Hartford, Connecticut, were arrested and extradited to Florida for swatting a 12-year-old victim in Davenport, Florida.
The incidents, occurring on June 4 and 5, 2025, involved false reports of shootings and violent acts, prompting unnecessary emergency responses.
Sheriff Grady Judd called swatting a dangerous epidemic, often sparked by online gaming disputes, that risks lives and diverts critical resources.
The suspects, charged with second- and third-degree felonies, targeted the victim after gaming conflicts.
Judd urged parents to monitor children’s online activities, warning that unchecked gaming can lead to serious consequences.
The arrests highlight the increasing challenge of swatting, with law enforcement vowing to pursue perpetrators relentlessly to prevent potential tragedies.
