Direct selling regulator urges the freeze-dried food company to pull unsubstantiated earnings promises after it failed to remove flagged social media posts.

A national direct selling watchdog has called on Thrive Life, LLC to stop its salesforce from using potentially deceptive earnings claims like “financial freedom” and “serious income” to lure new recruits.

The recommendation, issued Monday by the Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council (DSSRC), follows an investigation that found the company failed to remove three of four flagged posts making such promises.

The council, an arm of the BBB National Programs, determined these claims, including comparisons to a “9-5 grind” and testimonials of earning luxury trips, convey the unsubstantiated message that typical participants can achieve significant wealth.

The DSSRC urged Thrive Life to remove the claims and add clear disclosures to promotional videos.

While Thrive Life formally agreed to comply with the recommendations, its failure to ensure the removal of the problematic content raises critical questions about its oversight of its consultants’ marketing practices.
