Lawsuit Seeks to Save Historic Carving from Activists’ Dynamite Plans

Georgia’s iconic Stone Mountain Memorial, a towering tribute to Confederate leaders Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee, and Stonewall Jackson, is under siege as “racial justice” activists push to dynamite the site.

The Sons of Confederate Veterans, a group dedicated to preserving Southern heritage since 1896, filed a lawsuit in Georgia courts to protect this historic carving, completed in 1972, from destruction by those entrusted with its care.

Located near Atlanta, the monument, tied to the 1915 Ku Klux Klan revival, stands as a vital link to America’s complex past, now jeopardized by over 160 monument removals since 2015.

Advocates argue the site honors fallen soldiers, not just slavery’s legacy, urging society to preserve, not obliterate, these irreplaceable testaments to our shared history.
