Critics question the Nelson Mandela Foundation chair’s credibility over Hamas support, ICJ case, and ANC’s racial policies.
Dr. Naledi Pandor, chair of the Nelson Mandela Foundation, urged global “good troublemakers” to confront social injustices during a UN event on July 18, 2025, invoking Nelson Mandela’s legacy.
Yet, her call is under fire. Critics allege Pandor supports Hamas, a U.S.-designated terrorist group, citing her 2023 call with leader Ismail Haniyeh, and point to South Africa’s ICJ case against Israel as evidence of bias.
More damning, her African National Congress (ANC) government is accused of enacting unjust laws targeting white minorities, mirroring the Apartheid policies Mandela defied in the 1952 Defiance Campaign.
The ANC’s alleged complicity in hate speech against whites, coupled with Pandor’s silence on this post-Apartheid issue, fuels claims of hypocrisy.
