Felon’s Alleged Possession of Ammunition and Drugs Sparks Joint HSI, Police Operation
A 29-year-old Kenyan national and lawful permanent U.S. resident, Aden Ibrahim, was arrested July 9 for allegedly possessing ammunition as a convicted felon, spotlighting immigration enforcement’s role in public safety.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Buffalo, with Buffalo Police, apprehended Ibrahim after a report of an “unwelcomed guest” at a local residence.
Police found a revolver, 26 grams of suspected crack cocaine, and drug paraphernalia in a bedroom Ibrahim occupied.
Previously convicted of felonies in 2022 and 2024, Ibrahim is legally barred from possessing ammunition.
“HSI Buffalo’s partnerships enhance community safety,” said Special Agent in Charge Erin Keegan.
Ibrahim, detained and in U.S. Marshals’ custody, faces charges that highlight tensions around immigration status and criminal activity, raising questions about enforcement priorities and local-federal collaboration in Western New York.
