Four Suspects Flee After Fatal Robbery in Buffelsdrift, Raising Alarms Over Rural Crime Surge
An 82-year-old farmer, Mossie Mostert, was brutally murdered Thursday evening in a violent home invasion at his smallholding in Buffelsdrift, north of Pretoria.
Four suspects, dressed in blue overalls, bound and assaulted Mostert, stealing a cellphone and cash. His son, alerted by security cameras at 20:10, discovered the chaos, finding his father gravely injured.
Despite being rushed to Montana Hospital, Mostert was pronounced dead on arrival.

The Buffelsdrift Conservancy community mourned the loss of a beloved resident, calling it a “profound shock.”
Police are investigating the murder and robbery, with forensic experts combing the scene.
