Golden Beach Resident Sentenced to 2.5 Years for Decades-Long Tax Evasion Plot

Gilda Rosenberg, a dual U.S.-Colombian citizen from Golden Beach, Florida, was sentenced to 30 months in prison for orchestrating a decades-long scheme to hide over $90 million in offshore accounts, costing the IRS $1.9 million in unpaid taxes.

From 2010 to 2022, Rosenberg and two family members concealed assets in banks across Andorra, Israel, Panama, and Switzerland, using nominee entities and falsified documents claiming Colombian residency.

They failed to file required foreign account reports and submitted false tax returns, omitting $5.5 million in income.

In 2017, they fabricated gift documents to evade U.S. taxes further.

Rosenberg, who also pleaded guilty to defrauding the U.S. military, agreed to pay $1.9 million in restitution and a $5.8 million penalty.
