HHS unveils a revamped HealthData.gov and a bold open data plan to boost transparency and innovation.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) today launched a revitalized HealthData.gov and its Living HHS Open Data Plan, tripling datasets to over 10,000 since January 2025.
Led by Deputy Secretary Jim O’Neill and Chief Data Officer Dr. Kristen Honey, the initiative aims to dismantle information silos, enhance transparency, and drive innovation under Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.’s directive.
The refreshed platform offers improved search tools, APIs, and new assets like the HHS Data Inventory, empowering researchers, policymakers, and citizens.
By fostering public-private partnerships and prioritizing privacy, HHS seeks to fuel scientific breakthroughs and maximize taxpayer value.
The plan, hosted on GitHub, invites public feedback to evolve continuously.
This bold step promises a more accountable, data-driven healthcare system, benefiting all Americans.
