Tornado Touches Down Near Bennett, Colorado, Damages 17 Buildings

On May 18, 2025, a tornado touched down at least three times near the Town of Bennett, Colorado, according to the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office.

The storm damaged 17 buildings, including six homes, but no injuries were reported. A Code Red Alert was issued to notify residents of the emergency.

An information center has been established at the Bennett Recreation Center (455 S. 1st St.), while large animals can be sheltered at the Adams County Fairgrounds, and small animals at the Bennett Safety Building (365 Palmer Ave.).

Multiple agencies, including Adams County Sheriff, South Metro Fire Rescue, and Rampart Search and Rescue, are assisting with the response.
