The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is distributing over $126 million in refunds to Fortnite players charged for unwanted in-game purchases, following a 2023 settlement with Epic Games.
The settlement, totaling $245 million, addressed allegations that Epic used deceptive practices to trick players into unintended purchases.
The FTC announced on June 25, 2025, that it is reopening the claims process, allowing eligible players and their guardians until July 9, 2025, to file for compensation at www.ftc.gov/fortnite.
This follows a December 2024 round of $72 million in refunds to 629,344 consumers. The latest distribution includes 969,173 checks and PayPal payments issued on June 25-26.
Total refunds now approach $200 million. Consumers should cash checks within 90 days or redeem PayPal payments within 30 days.
