Award-winning reporter arrested after FBI seizes devices containing child sexual abuse material.
Thomas Pham LeGro, a 48-year-old Washington Post journalist, was arrested and charged with possessing child pornography in Washington, D.C.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia announced the charges following a search of LeGro’s residence on June 26, where FBI agents seized multiple electronic devices.
A folder on LeGro’s work laptop contained 11 videos of child sexual abuse material. Authorities also found fragments of a hard drive outside the room where the laptop was located.
The case, part of the DOJ’s Project Safe Childhood initiative, is being investigated by the FBI’s Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, with Assistant U.S. Attorneys Caroline Burrell and Janani Iyengar prosecuting.
U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro commended the FBI and Metropolitan Police Department for their efforts.
