Authorities have identified 57-year-old Vance Luther Boelter as the suspect in the fatal shootings of Minnesota State Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, early Saturday.

According to FOX 9 Minneapolis-St. Paul, Boelter, a former appointee to the Governor’s Workforce Development Council under Gov. Tim Walz (2016 and 2019), is also linked to the wounding of Senator John Hoffman and his wife in Champlin.

Boelter, with a PhD in education and a background as director of security at Praetorian Guard Security Services, allegedly impersonated a police officer using a fake SUV with emergency lights. A manhunt continues as he remains at large, considered armed and dangerous.

A list of names, hand written notes and “No Kings” flyers were found in his vehicle, hinting at possible political motives, though details are still under investigation.
