Brave Survivor Fights Off Attackers in Rural Mpumalanga Incident
Role Uys, an elderly woman farming alone on a property near Carolina, was attacked by five suspects on the evening of Wednesday, June 25, 2025, upon arriving at her home.
Ian Cameron, chairman of the South African parliamentary portfolio committee on police, crime activist, and member of parliament, reported that despite being bitten by one of the attackers, Uys fought back, biting the assailant in return.
She managed to escape by driving her vehicle through the farm gate.
She was unarmed during the incident.
“Her bravery undoubtedly saved her life. Further details will follow. Stay vigilant and support local safety structures,” Cameron urged.
The attack shows the ongoing concerns about farm attacks in South Africa, with authorities and community leaders urging heightened awareness and cooperation to address such threats.
