Three Attackers Beat and Tied Up The Victim Before Fleeing Scene

A 70-year-old farmer, Johan van Biljon, narrowly escaped a brutal assault on his Blakewell farm in Kestell on June 26, 2025.

Three intruders smashed a large window to gain entry, beat and tied up van Biljon, and began loading stolen goods into his pickup truck.

The elderly farmer managed to break free and alert neighbors, causing the attackers to flee on foot, abandoning their loot, firearms, and a cellphone.

Local private security, the South African Police Service (SAPS), and community members responded swiftly, securing the scene.

No lives were lost, though van Biljon sustained injuries. The recovered items, including the firearms and cellphone, may provide crucial evidence for the ongoing investigation.

Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant as the search for the suspects continues.
