U.S. Producers to Benefit from Expanded Access to Fresh, Frozen, and Chilled Poultry Exports
U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke L. Rollins announced today that American poultry producers will gain significant market access to Namibia, effective immediately.
This move, championed by the Trump Administration, will allow fresh, frozen, and chilled U.S. poultry exports into the African nation, unlocking a market valued at $15 million.
Secretary Rollins emphasized the administration’s commitment to “renegotiating the status quo of bad trade deals,” hailing the agreement as a win for farmers, exporters, and “freedom-loving nations.”
The USDA successfully negotiated the removal of previous burdensome export and transit permit requirements for processed poultry products.
Namibia’s decision to accept U.S. food safety standards underscores the global recognition of the USDA’s inspection system.
Secretary Rollins also highlighted a contrast with the previous administration, noting a shift from a trade surplus to a nearly $50 billion agricultural trade deficit under President Biden.
Rollins plans further trade missions to expand market access for American farmers.
