The U.S. House of Representatives has passed H.R.875, the Jeremy and Angel Seay and Sergeant Brandon Mendoza Protect Our Communities from DUIs Act of 2025, with a vote of 246-160.
This legislation mandates the deportation of illegal aliens convicted of driving under the influence (DUI). The bill, which saw overwhelming Republican support (209 votes) and minimal Democratic backing (37 votes), reflects a sharp partisan divide. One independent also voted in favor.
The passage of H.R.875 follows concerns over public safety, particularly after high-profile DUI incidents involving undocumented individuals.
This development is part of a broader trend of stricter immigration enforcement, aligning with previous measures like the Laken Riley Act.
The bill now moves to the Senate for further consideration.
